A new feature for Lonely Planet Traveller magazine covering the fascinating island of Sicily, from Mount Etna’s volcanic slopes to the black beaches of the Aeolian Islands. It also includes sections on Palermo’s food culture, the chic style of Taormina and Scicli’s baroque architecture. The story was one of the lead features of the magazine’s February 2014 issue, and features stunning photographs by Matt Munro.

The aim was to get under the city’s skin and avoid the usual tourist traps, and turn up a few of the secret places only locals would know about.
